One of the biggest questions I see on forums and Facebook groups is “What currency do I need for my cruise?” I can’t answer “How much” money you will need to take with you, because that depends on how much of a big spender you are.. but I can tell you which currency you need for each ship and each cruise port you are visiting.
The best thing about being on a cruise is the cashless system. Using your stateroom card to order drinks, pay for spa treatments etc. Which you will then settle at the end of your cruise either with cash or credit card. Meals, amenities, activities etc are all included in your cruise fare. However there may be some optional extras that require cash on board.. for example the casino, arcade, tipping staff etc. But when leaving the ship to go ashore please see my guide below for the currency you will require.
